15.06.2013 marked the 250th birthday of Kobayashi Issa, although I wanted to mark the day by posting on the actual day, the opportunity passed me by in the blink of an eye.
Kobayashi Issa's Oraga Haru - The Year of My Life in a translation by Nobuyuki Yuasa, (translator of the Penguin edition of Basho's The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Other Travel Sketches), is available to read in streaming format over at the out of print titles page at University of California Press.

Ooo. Thanks for this link! Of the big four, I've always enjoyed Issa the most.
I've not read a great deal of haiku or haibun so reading this will be a first for me, I think it's also been translated under the title The Spring of My Life.
I've been very tempted by Collected Haiku of Yosa Buson published recently by Copper Canyon Press - so many books...
Thanks for this, as you may be aware I am an admirer of Haiku, so will probably add this to my ever expanding list
No problem, I've only just started to explore the world of haiku and haibun, so perhaps I'll start with the classics and perhaps take it from there.
